About us

The Professional Master’s Degree in Life Cycle Health was created in 2012 by the Catholic University of Pelotas (UCPel). Aimed at the Pelotas/Rio Grande macro-region, it annually receives professionals working in the Health System in 22 municipalities in the South Zone of Rio Grande do Sul. Originally called the Professional Master’s Degree in Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health, as it identified the need for priority care for this population, it recently changed its name to Life Cycle Health, aiming to include minority groups and other segments of the population.

The only Professional Master’s Degree in the area of public health in the region is responsible for contributing to the qualification of human resources at the different levels of health care in the municipalities. Groups of professionals seek out UCPel in search of improving their work processes. The Professional Master’s Degree also stands out for its commitment to returning the results of the research developed to the community.

The interconnection with Stricto Sensu and Lato Sensu courses in health, Medical and Professional Residencies provides a new perspective on problems that are often familiar. Armed with up-to-date information, the masters are responsible for generating knowledge and techniques aimed at improving the quality and resolution of basic health care.

The multidisciplinary nature of the Master’s degree prepares professionals with the ability to lead the work carried out by teams working at different levels of health care. Masters students are also encouraged to observe the characteristics of the communities where they work and their work reality in order to identify needs and meet the public policies created by the Ministry of Health.
